When GQ brought Kendrick Lamar and Rick Rubin together for a joint interview in their latest issue, the two musical giants had never met before. But it seems they hit things off so well that the sit-down turned into a studio session. “Let’s check out this space, man!” Lamar tells Rubin in a video of their summit, which took place at Rubin’s famed Shangri La studios in Malibu. When Rubin asks, “Should we go inside and record?” Lamar replies, “Exactly.” Lamar also suggested Rubin might wind up producing parts of his next album when he said, “I wanna put all the paint on the wall and see where that goes. Maybe you can help me with that.”
