Five cops walked off the job Monday in Bunker Hill, Indiana. That might not seem like a lot, but it leaves Bunker Hill, a town of 900, without a single police officer. The cops quit over lack of funding from town councilors, whom police allege also asked them to run illicit background checks on one another. “We have had issues with the town board, and there are some activities there where I felt like they were serving their own agenda,” former Bunker Hill town marshal Michael Thomison told WXIN. “They were just not receptive to having a police department.” The town council is currently in the midst of assembling a new police department from scratch.
